Musings of the Fox

Mermaid

Alluring murmur sailing on the warm current,
Blood red echo beating, beating echo, pulsing,
The undertow dragging the heart farther
From the head swimming in the alluring murmur.

Your shimmer more elusive than moonbeams
Riding the rolling whitecaps during a midsummer dream.
An awakening from the sea from the sea floor, rising,
Lifting the pulse of life to the surface.

You have emerged to plunge me to the depths,
Take me deep and drown me in dreams, my dreams.
You sing to me of caresses, touches, warmth yet unknown,
And all without a movement of those lips so baited for a kiss.

I know the tale, the fairy magic, the tail
Below the surface hides, but glitter of it blinds,
The beauty shimmers as mirage in the desert,
An oasis to a thirsty sailor suffering a drought of longing.

Though i know the sounding, read the charts,
The hazards well marked, I let the current
Of your song carry me, helmsman of my ship,
All ahead full to certain shipwreck.

I hear your voice raised in mirth,
As the hull of my ship strikes.
A flash of tail, you retreat below.
Soon I shall follow, but not with you.

Below i go and go, deeper than I want to go.
Round and round you circle, a siren
Of Davy Jones, who opens his arms in welcome.
His arms the only caress and touch and warmth I’ll know.
